4 sessions - 4th, 6th, 11th & 13th November - Starts on 4th November 2024 from 4 - 6pm

Improve your driving skills, steer clear of danger and/or reduce your time on a restricted licence. This covers the theory and practical parts of the course. It is essential that participants attend all 4 theory sessions and the practical driving assessment, which will be arranged with the instructor during the theory sessions.

It is essential that participants attend all 4 sessions and the practical driving assessment, which will be arranged with the instructor during the theory sessions.

Digital Photography: Hands On

6 Wednesday nights & 1 weekend field trip - Starts 23 October from 7-9pm

Please note this course starts 1 week later than our brochure states. 23rd October is the start date. A practical course involving six classroom sessions, and one weekend shoot. Sessions will cover people, landscape, still life, night photography, all designed to teach creative techniques of making photographs. Assumes a basic knowledge of camera operation.

Gagana Samoa for Everyone

Samoan Language is amazingly easy to learn. Learn to understand and use familiar Samoan everyday expressions. Learn about the culture of Samoa. A condition of enrolment on this course is that you will attend at least 80% of the sessions. The first time you enrol, you'll need to provide your National Student Number (NSN) or, if you don't have one, email a copy of your passport or birth certificate as proof of your NZ citizenship or residency to [email protected].

Guitar: Beginner & Intermediate

8 Wednesday nights - Starts on 16 October from 7-9pm

This course will show beginners how to form basic chords and use them to accompany a range of songs. Students will learn several different strums and a simple but effective finger picking technique. Bring your own guitar. Intermediate students will work on the same material, but learning and using more advanced playing methods. You will have at least one hour tutor contact time with beginners and intermediate split into different sessions on the first night.

This class is for students who have already taken the Italian course at Tawa College in the past. Expand your pasta making to coloured pastas and new sauces, learn some more desserts and catch up with old classmates! Please bring a pasta machine if you have one, some will be provided.

SAVING FAMILY MEMORIES:

3 Wednesday nights - Starts on 4 September from 7-9pm

EVERYONE has a story worth sharing. This class will inspire you to start saving family stories and memories for future generations. Most family history is recorded in documents and photographs, but there are many stories and memories that are not recorded and will be lost or forgotten if they are not saved. You will use old photographs as prompts, and create a timeline of key life events that you wish to document. The main focus is on using video & audio to record stories and memories, but the same principles can be applied to writing a personal memoir.

SEWING: CHRISTMAS PROJECTS for beginners

3 Wednesday nights - Starts on 16 October from 6.30 - 9pm

This is a 3 week beginners course. It starts with learning to thread the sewing machine (including the bobbin). The aim is to make a variety of Christmas items giving you confidence with machine sewing and accurate top stitching. In the first week there will be 2 different Christmas tree decorations and in the following 2 weeks you can choose to make – Christmas mats, bunting and reusable Christmas bags.

TAI CHI KUNG FU FAN 1

8 Wednesday evenings - Starts on 16 October from 6.30 - 7.30pm

This Fan form is very popular in Asean countries early morning exercise in the park. It is a gift from Chinese culture and a jewel to last for a very long time. This is an active form. Just right for active people. You learn to use the Fan and your body together. You learn as a group and learn to move together. It is visually quite a party activity. Learning is a challenge initially, but going past the challenge it is exhilarating and very enjoyable. It is healthy for those who need to move their legs, arms and body more. It helps you keeping your mind present in each moment in the fan form. Helps you have a moment to yourself and find peace. Come and learn. These Lessons will be at the group's pace. Everyone will be provided with a Fan to borrow or buy.

VEGAN COOKING - an Introduction

This class, taught by a vegan catering chef, will equip students with knowledge to shop for and prepare nutritious, wholesome, inexpensive food that is fully vegan.
