CHEESE MAKING: Halloumi & Ricotta

You make the cheese at this intensely practical DIY 'hands-in' workshops because the key to good cheese making is knowing how the cheese should look and, most importantly, how it should feel at different points in it's creation. During this three hour hands-on workshop, you will be guided through the cheese making process while you make your own Halloumi and Ricotta which you will be able to take home and show off at the end!

CHEESE MAKING: Mozzarella & Brie

The ultimate class in practical cheese making! Learn all you need to know to replicate making NZ style Brie and Mozzarella at home. You will be guided through each step of the cheesemaking process while making your very own round of Brie. Then, while the Brie is ripening and setting (don't worry, all terminology will be explained!), we will make Mozzarella – (yum!) together.

DAY OF MINDFULNESS:

The intention for this workshop is to engage deeply in mindfulness practice and to learn techniques that will help you integrate mindfulness into your everyday life. LEARN TO SEW:

This course is a perfect opportunity to learn some basic sewing skills. You will learn how to read a pattern, how to cut out fabric, how to thread a sewing machine and change settings, basic sewing skills (straight and curved seams) and hand sewing as you work on constructing a bag. The pattern will be provided by the tutor; you will need to supply fabric, zip and thread. Students may bring their own machine or use a college Bernina).

METAL JEWELLERY: Beginner

Making silver rings and things…..learn a range of jewellery making techniques including forming, shaping, soldering, texturing, sawing, filing and finishing. The emphasis is on practical skills leading to finished items of jewellery. The silver for a ring and a bangle is included in the course costs as is copper to practice with, saw blades, solder etc. Silver to make additional items can be purchased at a reasonable price. All tools are provided. No previous experience necessary. We will be working with hot metal and tools so workshop clothing and covering footwear please; no open shoes, slides, sandals or jandals allowed. This is for your safety in the workshop.

METAL JEWELLERY: Silver & Stone Intermediate

. Stone setting is one of the most fun things you can do in a jewellery workshop – it’s a little bit magic, a little bit precision and one of the best ways to grow your skills. This is a one-day class where your creativity and all the techniques you learnt previously come together. We will be making a stone setting, soldering this on a ring and wearing it home. The silver for a ring and a stone setting is included in the course costs as are stones to choose from, copper to practice with, saw blades, solder etc. All tools are provided.

Patchwork: Finishing Class (UFO)

PATCHWORK: Scrap Quilt in a Day

PATTERNS FROM YOUR FAVOURITE GARMENT:

Have you found a garment that fits you well and you wish you could clone it? By learning to create a pattern from an existing garment you will have the skills to do so. In this course you will be shown how to create a pattern from an existing garment. You will then have an opportunity to apply this knowledge as you work on your own pattern/s for your chosen garment/s. Sewing and/or basic pattern knowledge is recommended as you should be familiar with terms such as seam allowance, straight grain, bias, darts etc.
