The class will be held at the Tawa Community Garden in Oxford St. Cancellation date if wet is 9 march Fees: NZ$25 Click here for more information on this course or to enrol ![]() FLORA & FAUNA OF OUR LOCAL NATIVE BUSH RESERVES:Tutor/Facilitator: Gill Roper The course will include some history of the bush reserves, the origin of their names, how to identify the major native tree species, plus information on studies undertaken in bird surveys, lizard surveys and pest control in the reserves. Three of the sessions will be practical, involving guided walks in different reserves to provide opportunities to identify flora (including the huge tawa and matai trees) and the fauna, as discussed in the classroom presentations. Healthy soils create healthy plants that are resilient to pests, disease and unfavourable conditions. In this workshop you’ll learn some basics on building soil health, creating homemade fertilisers and managing pests and diseases organically.
