Joyce Tam

Joyce loves sewing and loves teaching sewing and other fashion design topics. She has been teaching at the Fashion Design department of Massey University for over 20 years. She will teach you how to select a pattern, how to read pattern information, selecting appropriate fabric and methods that are simple quick and provide a professional finish to garments. She looks forward to seeing you in a sewing class soon.

LEARN TO SEW
1 Saturday - On 23 March from 9am-3:30pm

Would love to learn to sew but not sure where to start, and a whole term of courses is not for you? Then this one day course has been designed for you. Come and learn how to use a sewing machine (students may bring their own or use a college Bernina). Work on a selected sewing project and leave sewing confident all in one day.

OVERLOCKER BASICS/SEWING WITH KNITS
1 Saturday - On 23 February from 9am-3:30pm

An introduction to the overlocker, develop skills to use this equipment safely and efficiently. Learn how to use the overlocker for seaming knit garments. Prior Sewing experience essential. Some overlockers are available to use during the course or bring your own

Sewing for Beginners (Wed)
8 Wednesday nights - Starts 13 February from 7-9pm

Learn how to understand a pattern, work out the material needed and what sewing words mean.

Sewing: Intermediate
8 Monday nights - Starts 11 February from 7-9pm

The class will cater for intermediate sewers. All students will be helped, shown techniques and short cuts. Bring pattern, material & sewing kit, current sewing project, or idea to the first lesson.
