FLOWER ARRANGING: AUTUMN

4 Tuesday nights - Starts on 7 May from 7-9pm

This course follows on from last term (although beginners are also welcome) with some useful designs for autumn and winter when flowers are not so plentiful. We'll make use of the different types of foliage, even creating a foliage only design, some modern designs that require minimal flowers, as well as the ever popular hand tied posy. Students will be advised which flowers and foliage to bring each week.

LANDLORDS MASTERCLASS (Sundays)

2 Sundays - 16th & 23rd June

If you are a landlord, you’ve faced a lot of changes. This class will help you sharpen up your performance as a landlord so you are getting the best from your property investment AND being a great landlord to your tenants. Jackie Thomas-Teague is an experienced landlord, property manager, teacher, and recognised in the Rent Skills Highly Commended category 2023 (formerly ‘Landlord of the Year’) and will help you deal with tricky areas, things you don’t enjoy, or are not confident about, as well as making sure you are meeting all your obligations. This is a safe environment to talk about all things landlord-related, so no matter your experience and skill level, you are bound to get something valuable out of it, and have fun doing it. Jackie welcomes questions before class so she can tailor the content to match your specific needs’.

Sewing for Beginners

8 Thursday nights - Starts on 9 May 2024 from 6.30 - 8.30pm

THIS COURSE IS NOW FULL, but we do have a Saturday class as well. This class is for people who are wanting to gain confidence with a sewing machine. And those just starting can work through a project making a shopping bag to introduce them to the sewing machine and sewing techniques.A condition of enrolment on this course is that you will attend at least 80% of the sessions. The first time you enrol, you'll need to provide your National Student Number (NSN) or, if you don't have one, email a copy of your passport or birth certificate as proof of your NZ citizenship or residency to [email protected]

SEWING FOR BEGINNERS - SATURDAYS

2 Saturdays - On Saturday 8th & 15th June from 9am - 4pm

This class is for people who are wanting to gain confidence with a sewing machine. And those just starting can work through a project making a shopping bag to introduce them to the sewing machine and sewing techniques.A condition of enrolment on this course is that you will attend at least 80% of the sessions. The class will cater for intermediate sewers. All students will be helped, shown techniques and short cuts. Bring pattern, material & sewing kit, current sewing project, or idea to the first lesson.

Upholstery

5 Saturday mornings, 4 hours for the first session then 3 hours - Starts 18 May from 9.30am

Please note there has been a slight change to dates / times advertised in our brochure. Learn how to revitalise your furniture using equipment you already have at home. Sewing skills are essential. Please note the size of your project will determine how much homework you need to do it get it completed, but come and learn what you need to do to refresh your furniture.

Learn wood working skills using hand tools and the type of power tools found in the home. Choose your own project at your level of ability and learn skills while completing the project. You provide your own materials. No recycled timber allowed. This course will be held at the Tawa Menz Shed Davies St, Tawa.
