Indo/Chinese Cooking 2018

Indian Chinese cuisine is the adaption of Chinese seasoning and cooking techniques to Indian tastes. Hot chillies, ginger, garlic, sesame seeds, dry red chillies, black pepper corns, yogurt are also frequently used in dishes. This makes Indian Chinese food similar in taste to many ethnic dishes in Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore, Malaysia which have strong Chinese and Indian cultural influences. You will be sent a list of ingredients to bring on the first night.

Orchestra 2018

The Tawa Orchestra is a community orchestra that attracts players of all ages and walks of life. No audition required – minimum standard Grade V. You will learn the dynamics of being part of a full orchestra including rehearsal techniques, sectionals, and performance. The Tawa Orchestra will perform at least 3 concerts throughout the year and may include collaborations with other community groups and visiting artists. New members can join at any time.

Raranga: Creating Taonga with Harakeke (Beginner)

Learn how to harvest and prepare Harakeke (flax), including kohua (boiling), weave putiputi a place mat and a wall hanging while using traditional techniques and methods, including karakia, tikanga and Te reo Maori. This class is great for those with no experience to minimum experience. I believe the most important part of weaving is the preparation and basics, I am privileged to be able to teach you and guide you through your first stages of Raranga.
