During this one-day course you will be shown how to:
• Prepare and analyse the garment to be copied
• Measure a garment
• Copy a garment – different methods
• True, blend and equalise and pattern
• Add seam allowances
• Walk pattern pieces
• Finish a pattern (grainline, notches, drillholes, pattern labelling etc)
Prerequisites – A good understanding of garment construction. You should have an
understanding of terms such as seam allowance, dart, ease, grainline, notch, drillhole etc.
What to bring:
• Food & Drink
• Pens, pencils & eraser
• Note paper/book (to take notes)
• Sewing pins
• Scissors (for cutting paper)
• Tape measure
• Garments to copy – bring in a selection of garments, but make sure at least one
is a basic design such as a t-shirt.
