Expected Course Outcomes:

 1. Make two or three items of jewellery.

 2. Apply basic jewellery making techniques such as sawing, filing, sanding, soldering, polishing and finishing with appropriate support from the tutor.

 3. Recognise tools and their uses; be able to apply this knowledge in making jewellery

 4. Demonstrate an awareness of basic safety issues in the workshop

 Course Outline

 

Main topic:

Make a ring

 

Objectives:

Students will be able to measure and cut the metal, apply a texture, shape, solder, form, fit, file, sand and polish a silver ring.

Learn about jewellery making tools and basic jewellery making techniques through listening, watching and making.

 

Main topic:

Correct and safe use of tools

 

Objectives:

Students will demonstrate an awareness of safe workshop practice and the correct use of tools to achieve learning outcomes and create items of jewellery. 

 

 

Main topic:

Critical eye

 

Objectives:

Students will begin to develop a technical appreciation and apply a critical eye to jewellery making and design.

Refund requests must be made in writing to the Co-ordinator.   Prior to the course commencing, a 20% administration cost will be removed from the refund. No refund will be available 24 hours prior to the course starting or once the course has started. A full refund is available should the Coordinator cancel the course.
