- Demonstrate the basic principles / techniques of mosaic design.

- Break and cut tiles correctly.

- Place tiles on the object.

- Stick pieces to flat and curved surfaces.

- Use stones, shells or found objects in mosaics.

Course Outline:

 Design and preparation

 Objectives:

- Learning how to prepare the surface of an object for mosaics.

- Learning which products to use for indoor or outdoor use.

- Look at examples of traditional mosaic techniques.

- Designing a pattern suitable for a particular project.

   Cutting and applying tiles

 Objectives:

- Learning how to safely cut tiles and china.

- Learning glass and mirror cutting techniques.

- How to apply tiles to a surface.

- Grouting and finishing mosaic artworks.

  Alternative mosaic techniques

 Objectives:

- Learning how to make a mosaic cement tile.

- Learning the indirect method of applying tiles.

- Exploring the use of other materials in a design e.g. stones, shells and found objects.

Refund requests must be made in writing to the Co-ordinator.   Prior to the course commencing, a 20% administration cost will be removed from the refund. No refund will be available 24 hours prior to the course starting or once the course has started. A full refund is available should the Coordinator cancel the course.
